100 Bikes Donated to Families in Calvert County

LUSBY, Md.—In a heartwarming act of generosity, Constellation and the Optimist Club of Calvert gifted 100 bicycles and helmets to local children in Calvert County, Maryland. The giveaway, which took place on December 7, 2024, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Lusby, was part of Constellation’s ongoing community engagement efforts.

A Personal Touch

Imagine the joy of receiving your first-ever bicycle, the freedom it symbolizes, the smiles it brings. For many children in Calvert County, this dream became a reality thanks to the kindness of strangers. One parent shared a touching note, highlighting the impact of this simple gesture on their child’s life and their own.

“My son is sitting in his room on the bike. He has a disability, and you all were so kind during bike pick up. Times are hard here and everywhere, so thank you for making a young man happy and his momma too.”

A Community Effort

The event not only brought joy to children but also emphasized Constellation’s dedication to giving back to the community, especially in Calvert County. Pete Moodie, Calvert Cliffs Site Vice President, expressed the company’s commitment to serving the communities where they operate.

“This event exemplifies our commitment to giving back to the communities we serve. Being able to bring joy to children in our community is truly heartwarming.”

Broader Support for Calvert County

Beyond the bike giveaway, Constellation has been actively supporting local organizations with contributions totaling $185,000 since September. This partnership with the Optimist Club and Free Bikes 4 Kidz Maryland is just one example of how Constellation is dedicated to engaging with and uplifting the community.
