The Calvert Marine Museum (CMM) is gearing up for a special event called Night at the Museum for Friends with Disabilities on May 16. This event is exclusively for guests with disabilities, their families, friends, or caregivers and will run from 5 to 7 p.m. It’s a free event organized in collaboration with Calvert County Parks & Recreation Therapeutic Recreation Services to provide a fun and supportive environment for exploration.

During the event, attendees can check out the museum’s various exhibits on fish, fossils, river otters, skates, rays, and maritime history. They can also get hands-on in the Discovery Room, take a stroll around the boat basin, and even visit the historic Drum Point Lighthouse. Oh, and let’s not forget about Bubbles, the museum’s otter mascot, who will be there to snap some photos with the guests.

The goal of this event is to showcase the museum’s commitment to accessibility and inclusion. By teaming up with Calvert County Parks & Recreation Therapeutic Recreation Services, CMM aims to create a welcoming space where guests with disabilities can enjoy educational and recreational activities tailored to their needs. It’s all about making sure everyone feels welcome and can have a good time.
