Maryland Man Sentenced to Prison for Armed Robbery Spree
GREENBELT, Md. – Andrew Trayvon Hale, a 27-year-old man from Prince George’s County, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for his involvement in a series of 11 armed robberies in Maryland and Washington, D.C. The charges against him include the discharge of a firearm during one of the robberies, leading to an additional three years of supervised release after serving his prison term.
Armed Robbery Spree Ends in High-Speed Chase
Hale, along with his co-conspirator Antoine Javon Hare, carried out a string of armed robberies between June 19 and July 23, 2022. Their targets were convenience stores and other retail establishments, each crime scene involving at least one firearm.
On July 23, 2022, after their final robbery, Prince George’s County Police officers, with aerial assistance, tracked the suspects’ vehicle. A high-speed chase ensued, concluding with the suspects crashing their car in Washington, D.C. Law enforcement arrested both men, recovering firearms and stolen proceeds from at least one of the robberies.
Federal Initiative
Hale’s sentencing is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a federal initiative dedicated to reducing violent crime through collaborative law enforcement efforts. U.S. Attorney Erek L. Barron commended the joint efforts of the FBI, Prince George’s County Police Department, Greenbelt Police Department, and the Metropolitan Police Department of Washington, D.C., in resolving the case.
“The prompt response of law enforcement brought this violent crime spree to a halt, ensuring accountability,” Barron stated.
Ongoing Efforts
Authorities stressed the significance of Project Safe Neighborhoods in combatting gun violence and bolstering community safety. To learn more about PSN and other initiatives, visit the Department of Justice website.
