St. Mary’s College Volleyball Players Shine in Academic Honors

Three standout members of the St. Mary’s College of Maryland volleyball team have recently garnered recognition for their exceptional performances both on the court and in the classroom. Senior Ellie Matthews, junior Julia Bobrowski, and sophomore Arielle Lubeck have been named to the prestigious College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® Team for their remarkable achievements during the 2024 season.

Academic Excellence and Athletic Achievements Recognized

Selected by College Sports Communicators, the CSC Academic All-District® Teams aim to highlight the nation’s finest student-athletes who excel academically and athletically. Nominees must maintain a minimum 3.50 GPA while also showcasing exceptional athletic contributions. The program recognizes volleyball players across NCAA Divisions I, II, III, and the NAIA.

Ellie Matthews, a biology major with a 3.7 GPA, made significant contributions to the Seahawks’ success this season as a middle blocker. Julia Bobrowski, a business administration major with a 3.62 GPA, earned First Team All-United East honors with her outstanding performance as an outside hitter. Arielle Lubeck, a biology major and Spanish minor with a 3.8 GPA, stood out as a key setter for the team.

Impressive Stats and Notable Achievements

Matthews, standing at 5-foot-9, appeared in 27 matches, recording 65 kills, 32.0 total blocks, and 16 digs. Bobrowski ranked among the top players in the conference, finishing in the top ten in various statistical categories. Lubeck, recognized for her sportsmanship, contributed significantly to the team’s overall success with her precise setting and strong defensive play.

These Academic All-District® honors underscore the exceptional balance of academic excellence and athletic performance displayed by Matthews, Bobrowski, and Lubeck.
